Which of the materials is better? Our factory uses laminated chipboard to produce storage units. Why do we prefer this material to plywood? Let’s discuss!
One of the plywood's primary advantages is its eco-friendliness. However, chipboards are produced of the same materials. It is believed that chipboard elements emit formalin, hazardous for the environment and human health. Laminated chipboard features a protective laminated layer that securely locks the health-threatening substance inside. In sober fact, all potentially hazardous essences vaporise prior to delivery to the factory, where the edges of the material are wrapped. Also, the Russian National Standard (RNS) affirms the same formalin amount for plywood (RNS 3916.1-96) and E1 and E2 chipboard (RNS 10632-89) materials. So, it is up to you to decide what is more secure: our Di-Van E1 laminated chipboard storage units or a penny plywood storage unit.
Plywood is often qualified as durable. And we confirm this fact. Still, do you need an extra enduring box to store a couple of pillows and a blanket? Notedly, storage units are not exposed to severe mechanical manipulations. We believe that laminated chipboard possesses perfect durability and firmness for the mentioned purposes.
Humidity Resistance
One of the primary options a storage unit should offer is the facility of moist mopping. In this scenario, laminated chipboard outacts plywood due to the laminated layers. Laminated chipboard is not liable to cracks, mould, fungus and delamination. This material ensures linen safety and the absence of snags and plucks.
Our sofas and sofa beds feature solid wood frames, as every kilogram is a key. An item’s weight becomes vital during moist mopping and moving home. Plywood storage units are unmanageable and too heavy to lift. On the contrary, laminated chipboard containers are usable!
Plywood materials appear more expensive, and most manufacturers won’t spend a fortune to produce storage units crafted from premium class plywood. Therefore, many brands use the cheapest plywood materials that contain an ineligible hazardous amount of formalin. Our factory takes advantage of price gapping and uses the top-class laminated chipboard.
